Creating a Calm, Natural Kitchen Aesthetic with Formica® Laminate

Brief: Modern laminate surfaces for kitchen renovation

As part of a full renovation of a Victorian terraced home in South East London, this kitchen redesign focused on maximising space and light while delivering a calm, functional space for modern living. Two key materials helped bring the vision to life: Formica® Laminate F5344 Seed and FENIX® Bianco Malé.

Formica laminate in Seed was pressed onto birch plywood to form the kitchen’s doors, drawer fronts, and end panels. Its soft, muted green tone complemented the warm quarter-sawn oak veneer used for the open shelving and side panels. Combined with Matte 58 texture, it enhanced the space with a subtle, tactile quality - reinforcing the relaxed, natural aesthetic.

To complete the look, FENIX Bianco Malé was selected for its understated, off-white tone, helping to unify the natural palette and maintain a bright, airy feel.

“When proposing materials to clients, Formica Laminate is my go-to shorthand for describing what high-pressure laminates are. Clients recognise the name and trust its longevity, which makes it an easy, reliable choice for modern kitchen design.”
