Crafting Creativity at New Heights: Formica® Laminate Integrates in Modern Office Design

With stunning views of Lake Michigan and Chicago as the backdrop, Modernfold Chicago knew their project to relocate and renovate the offices of a confidential lawn firm at the BMO Tower provided a unique opportunity. The client sought a flexible, durable, and visually appealing environment for their new office, and Modernfold wanted to ensure the space mirrored the beauty of view and inspired creativity and productivity, while also maximizing space efficiency and enhancing space functionality. Key strategies for the renovation included purposefully reducing office space, and as part of that effort, integrating Formica® laminate with Skyfold partitions to deliver a cohesive design.

“The main application of Formica^® products was as a durable, resilient, and aesthetically pleasing finish for the lower rows of Skyfold partitions, which served as a crucial element in the project design,” said project manager Ryan Watson. “These Formica^® finishes were carefully selected to withstand the wear and tear of a multipurpose space, ensuring longevity and maintaining visual appeal over time.”

Formica^® Milk 9634-58 Matte was applied horizontally along the length of the lower two rows of panels for Skyfold Zenith 60 applications. This choice allowed Modernfold to enhance the ceiling’s aesthetic when the Skyfold partitions were retracted, adding a touch of sophistication and visual interest to the space. Initially a concern for Chris and his team, they were relieved as the project progressed, knowing they had made the right choice.
